Implementing the plan of Hanoi City Police, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) has synchronously deployed plans to ensure traffic order and safety, focusing on gateways, ring roads, bus stations and radial axes to be ready to welcome people back to the Capital after the holidays.
Right from the afternoon of January 3rd, the traffic police force of the whole city proactively arranged forces and vehicles, deploying traffic diversion and regulation plans from early and remote. Task Forces were maintained throughout the day of January 4th and extended until the traffic situation returned to normal, ensuring that no prolonged congestion occurred and no complicated hotspots arose.
In the eastern gateway area of the City, on Co Linh and Dam Quang Trung routes, Road Traffic Police Team No. 5 maintains on-duty troops, combined with mobile patrols and traffic monitoring through AI camera systems.
Image data is updated in real time, helping functional forces proactively adjust traffic diversion plans, promptly handle arising situations, and ensure smooth traffic flow.

At the southern gateway, Road Traffic Police Team No. 14 deployed forces on Giai Phong, National Highway 1A, National Highway 1B, and Ngoc Hoi - Phap Van areas.
In addition to direct regulation at the scene, the unit coordinates with the Traffic Light Command Team to exploit data from the AI camera system to accurately measure vehicle traffic, thereby adjusting the traffic light cycle accordingly, limiting traffic conflicts at key intersections during peak hours in the afternoon and evening.
In parallel with the regulation work, functional forces have proactively removed infrastructure bottlenecks, creating favorable conditions for people to move during peak times after the holidays.
Implementing the direction of Hanoi City Police in the work of removing traffic congestion bottlenecks, Traffic Police Team No. 14 has proactively coordinated with the Department of Construction and the City Traffic Project Management Board to accelerate the construction progress, repave the road surface, remove barriers to clear the National Highway 1A section from Km185 to Km186+400.
Currently, National Highway 1A, the section from Ngoc Hoi Industrial Park towards the city center, has been put into operation with 4 lanes, contributing to reducing traffic pressure in the southern area of the city," said Lieutenant Colonel Pham Duc Hoang - Head of Road Traffic Police Team No. 14.
In addition, functional forces have removed construction barriers at the Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection; organized traffic opening from alley 15 Ngoc Hoi connecting to National Highway 1B and connecting the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway, contributing to ensuring smooth traffic and serving the travel needs of people well.

On the western belt and gateway routes, Road Traffic Police Team No. 7 deploys forces on National Highway 6, Nguyen Trai - Ha Dong axis; and at the same time maintains patrols and controls on Ring Road 3 elevated route, proactively handling incidents and traffic collisions, preventing prolonged congestion.
In the Pham Hung - Pham Van Dong area, My Dinh bus station and routes connecting to and from the City, Road Traffic Police Team No. 6 increased forces from the afternoon of January 3rd, maintaining them throughout the day of January 4th, coordinating with grassroots police and related forces to divert traffic, guide traffic, and ensure safety for people returning to the Capital.

According to the assessment of the Hanoi Traffic Police Department, during the 4 days of New Year's Day holiday 2026, the traffic order and safety situation throughout the City was basically ensured.
Along with traffic regulation and diversion, the traffic police force continues to maintain inspection and strictly handle violations of traffic order and safety, focusing on passenger transport, acts that are direct causes of traffic accidents such as using alcohol and beer while driving, carrying more people than prescribed, stopping and parking, picking up and dropping off passengers in the wrong places.
