On August 24, the Norwegian government said it would provide Ukraine with air defense systems with a total value of about 7 billion Norwegian crowns, equivalent to nearly 700 million USD. The Norwegian Prime Minister - Mr. Jonas Gahr Store - affirmed that close cooperation with Germany aims to ensure Ukraine has strong defense capabilities against airstrikes from Russia.
According to the announcement, Norway and Germany will jointly sponsor two patriot systems with missiles. In addition, Norway also contributed to purchasing air defense radar manufactured by German company Hensoldt and air defense systems from Kongsberg Group. This support package is considered to be of great significance in protecting civilians and strengthening Kiev's defense capabilities against the risk of further attacks.
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney visited Kiev. Chief of the Office of the President of Ukraine - Mr. Andriy Yermak - said that the visit took place on the occasion of Ukraine's National Day, meaning to show solidarity and support from international friends. He emphasized that Canada has always accompanied Ukraine during difficult times.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Kiev government consider international aid packages a key factor in maintaining defense capabilities against Russia in the context of the prolonged conflict. The coordination from Norway, Germany and political support from Canada are considered a strong message, demonstrating Ukraine's international commitment to security.
