According to TASS, on September 13 (local time), the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the country's air defense forces intercepted and destroyed a total of 140 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Ukrainian army in just 12 hours.
According to an official announcement from the Russian defense agency, the interception operation took place from 8 am to 8 pm on the same day Moscow time.
All of the above-mentioned fixed-wing UAVs were neutralized while moving in the airspace of the Crimean peninsula, the Black Sea and a series of border and surrounding areas of Russia, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol and Rostov provinces.
This move takes place in the context of long-range attacks by Ukrainian drones deep into Russian territory appearing with increasing density in recent days.
Previously, the Russian air defense fire net had to be continuously activated to neutralize a series of targets flying close to key infrastructure, warehouses and military bases bordering the border.
The fact that the two sides are constantly conducting retaliatory air strikes with missiles and large-scale UAVs shows that the war situation is still escalating and there are no signs of cooling down on the ground.
