In a post on social network X, the Russian Embassy said that the Netherlands is once again trying to take the Russian assets that are being frozen.
According to the Russian Embassy, confiscating a country's assets according to the government's decision will create concerns about the safety of assets in the European financial system.
The Russian side also warned that Moscow will not stand aside if the Netherlands continues to promote the confiscation of Russian assets.
The Russian Embassy said that Moscow's retaliatory measures could have serious consequences for the Netherlands. However, the agency did not specify what measures Russia could take.
The above information was released in the context that the European Union (EU) continues to debate the use of blockaded Russian assets to support Ukraine.
Earlier on the same day, well-informed sources said that some European countries are concerned that the European Union's financial support for Kiev may not be enough. Therefore, these countries are said to want to push back the proposal to confiscate the Russian assets that have been frozen.
Spain, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden are among the countries that support promoting this issue.
It is not yet clear whether European countries can reach a consensus on the direct confiscation of Russian assets. This issue has long been controversial due to concerns about legal risks and impacts on the reputation of the European financial system.
Meanwhile, Russia has repeatedly protested against the West's use or confiscation of its frozen assets, and warned that it would take retaliatory measures if assets were confiscated.
