"The January 11 attack on the TurkStream gas compression plant in the Krasnodar region stands out in a series of attacks carried out by Kiev. I would like to note that right before the attack, the Ukrainian president refused to extend the gas transit contract to Europe via Ukraine," Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said at a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine.
Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya noted: "We have every reason to believe that the attack on TurkStream infrastructure was carried out under the direction of Washington and London, who are interested in making the EU dependent on expensive liquefied natural gas from the US."
The Russian diplomat stressed that it is worth noting that the US and UK "are the two countries that prevented the launch of an international investigation into the September 2022 terrorist attack on the Nord Stream pipeline".
"It can be said that the conclusion is clear," the Russian Ambassador to the United Nations added.
On January 13, the Russian Defense Ministry informed that on January 11, Ukraine used 9 drones to attack a gas compressorship station in the Krasnodar region, south of Russia, in an attempt to disrupt gas supplies via the TurkStream pipeline. However, after the attack, the compression station continued to operate normally.
