Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev has arrived in North Korea to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the field of law enforcement.

On April 21, Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk said that the exchanges would focus on bilateral cooperation issues related to security and law enforcement. The published images show that Mr. Kolokoltsev was received in Pyongyang.

Relations between Russia and North Korea have been strengthened recently. The two countries signed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement during President Vladimir Putin's visit to Pyongyang in 2024. This agreement includes a mutual defense clause.

Within the framework of cooperation, North Korea sent about 14,000 soldiers to join Russian forces in the Kursk region in western Russia, after a large-scale attack from Ukraine.

The visit of the Russian Interior Minister takes place in the context that the two sides continue to promote areas of cooperation, especially issues related to security and coordination of functional forces.
