On July 27, according to TASS news agency, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov said that the country's air defense guided missile production this year has increased many times compared to the same period last year.
He also revealed that Russia has now developed a line of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) laser systems, including one system that intercepted nearly 60 UAVs in just one month.
The Russian Minister of Industry and Trade said that the growth rate is particularly clear in the group of high-tech products serving national defense.
For complex products such as air defense guided missiles, production this year has increased many times compared to last year," Mr. Alikhanov said.
Mr. Alikhanov said that Russia currently owns many research groups with capabilities in the fields of target identification, interception and machine vision technology. These are technologies considered the foundation for the development of new generation air defense and anti-UAV systems, helping to increase the ability to detect, track and handle targets with high accuracy.
Russia determines that it needs to continue to invest heavily in these research groups to maintain the pace of technological innovation in the defense sector.
We understand that we cannot stop here. These groups need to be supported as much as possible. All have been assigned specific tasks, and they also proactively propose innovative initiatives and solutions. We support them both financially and in management," Mr. Alikhanov said.
The above statements show that Russia is continuing to expand its production capacity of high-tech weapons, while investing in new defense solutions to cope with the increasing threat from UAVs on the battlefield.
