On June 15, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian army had launched an overnight airstrike, targeting the Kremenchuk refinery - a facility that played an important role in supplying fuel to Ukrainian forces operating in the Donbass region.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Kremenchuk refinery is located in Poltava province (Ukraine). In addition to missiles launched from sea and air, Moscow is said to have used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to attack the energy facility.
Commenting on the incident, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Kremenchuk refinery was damaged, but did not specify whether the material operation was interrupted or not.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry on June 15, Russia has gained control of much of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
The recovery of control of the above areas along with Zaporizhzhia is considered one of the highest targets of the special military campaign in Ukraine that Russia launched since 2022.
The ministry also said that Russian forces have advanced deep into the enemy's defense in Ukraine's Sumy region and caused heavy losses to Ukrainian units there.
