Russia claims Ukraine's losses over the weekend

The Russian Defense Ministry announced the losses of the Ukrainian army last weekend, more than 300 soldiers were killed and many military equipment were destroyed.

On December 23, the Russian Defense Ministry said the Ukrainian army lost more than 300 soldiers in just 24 hours, along with many other military equipment, when launching attacks in many areas of Russia's Kursk province last weekend.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that the total losses suffered by Ukraine over the weekend included five mechanized brigades, three amphibious brigades, one marine brigade and four territorial defense brigades.

There were also two tanks, including an American Abrams, three infantry fighting vehicles, including an American Bradley, a German Marder and a Swedish CV-90.

Ukraine also lost three armored personnel carriers, including one Stryker and two US M113s. The Russian military destroyed three more armored combat vehicles, one artillery piece, four mortars, one US M88 armored repair and recovery vehicle, and eight other vehicles.

Since Ukraine launched a border offensive in the Kursk region in August 2024, Moscow said Kiev has continuously faced heavy military losses.

According to estimates by the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukraine lost a total of more than 43,310 soldiers, 253 tanks, 194 infantry fighting vehicles, 135 armored personnel carriers, 1,315 armored combat vehicles and 1,174 vehicles during the military operations in Kursk Oblast.

Russian forces are also said to have destroyed some 324 artillery pieces, 42 multiple launch rocket systems, including US-supplied HIMARS and MLRS, 13 anti-aircraft missile launchers, and 70 transport and unloading vehicles.
