Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the possibility of bankruptcy or selling the company that operates the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline would amount to "theft".
The latest sharing about Nord Stream 2 was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference in Moscow on January 14.
Most recently, a Swiss court extended the deadline for Nord Stream 2 AG - a Swiss-registered Gazprom branch - to restructure debts from January 10 to May 9.
Nord Stream 2 AG must repay all its debts to its small creditors within 60 days, the court said.
Also at the press conference, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz " avoided the solution" and "d lawsuits" against the destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline.
Last November, the Wall Street Journal reported that an American businessman wanted to buy Nord Stream 2.
Nord Stream 2 has completed an $11 billion project in 2021 to pump Russian gas to Germany. But Germany has suspended plans to approve the Nord Stream 2 pipeline due to worsening relations with Russia right before the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out in February 2022. In addition, the US has also imposed sanctions targeting the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
In September 2022, one of the two branches of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline was damaged in mysterious explosions. The two branches of the Nord Stream pipeline were also subject to this shocking sabotage.
