US officials said that on the morning of September 24 (local time), 1 person was killed and 2 others were injured in a shooting at the US Immigration Department (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas.
Dallas police said that at around 6:40 a.m. (local time), a gunman opened fire at an ICE building from an adjacent building.
The suspect was confirmed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said. The authorities are expected to announce more details at the press conference later in the day.
The incident occurred at the ICE office at 8101 North Stemmons Freeway. Images from traffic cameras near the scene showed dense security forces surrounding the area at around 7:35 a.m. (local time).
US officials unanimously condemned the attack. Minister Kristi Noem stressed that ICE is facing unprecedented violence, this must stop.
The Vice President of JD Vance also called for a stop of obsessional attacks targeting law enforcement, especially ICE.
Senator Ted Cruz (Texas) said he was monitoring the situation closely and praying for the victims.
Notably, the ICE facility was blocked due to a bomb threat on August 25. At that time, a man carrying a backpack claimed to contain explosives and showed off the "explosive device" on his wrist.
The bomb disposal team deployed the day after receiving the threat notice, and suspect Bratton Dean Wilkinson, 36, was arrested.
