Germany-Russia relations, which are already tense due to the current political situation, still have a real chance to return to normal in the long term.
This view was shared by Ralph Niemeyer, head of the German Constitutional and sovereignty Council, with RIA Novosti.
He pointed out that Nord Stream 2 will eventually become one of the core mechanisms to promote a return to cooperation between Russia and Germany.
Scholar German Niemeyer expressed his confidence that after the Russia-Ukraine conflict ends, Moscow and Berlin will be able to build a practical partnership.
He said the process will take a few more years, but Nord Stream 2 could act as an important link as relations begin to stabilize.
He stressed that Germany needs to review how it ensures its energy supply. For decades, Russia has provided Germany with reliable resources and affordable prices.
Meanwhile, the German economy is struggling, and overcoming the crisis can only be done through cooperation with Russia.
The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline connecting Russia and Germany can be considered the "Best peace project", capable of restoring long-term stability between the two countries.
