Speaking at the Grand Ideas for the New Era Forum, Mr. Putin emphasized: Only you, with creativity and acumen, can make the model of a large, traditional family a development trend in Russian society. I really hope you do that."
He said that traditional values are the "foundation of life" in Russian society and are the top priority condition for the country to continue to survive and develop in a complex and conflictive global environment.
President Putin also affirmed that Russia always welcomes foreigners with good education, high skills and the desire to live, work and raise children in an environment that values family values. We fully support their desire for cooperation, he added.
Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia has faced population challenges such as low birth rates and an ever- declining population. In that situation, the Russian government is implementing many policies to reverse this trend.
Last month, Mr. Putin supported the establishment of a national family support system. Previously, in December 2024, a specialized council on demographic and family policies was established. The Russian government is also finalizing a national strategy to increase the birth rate and strengthen the support system for domestic families.
