President Donald Trump has said he could impose a tariffs of up to 250% on dairy and wood products imported from Canada.

President Donald Trump told reporters at the Department of Labor on March 7 that he could impose countervailing tariffs as early as March 7, local time, on Canadian goods, referring to Canada "ha pressured us for years to impose tariffs on cutting wood and dairy products, at 250%".

"We will impose the exact same tax rate on them, unless they remove it. This is the meaning of having back and forth. We can do it today, or wait until March 10 or 11, but we will definitely do it," Trump told reporters.

Previously, on March 6, President Donald Trump signed documents postponing the imposition of tariffs for nearly a month for all goods from Mexico and Canada under the regulation of the USMCA free trade agreement.

Mr. Trump called the temporary suspension of car tariffs on Mexico and Canada for a month a temporary suspension to "help companies create jobs" in the US.

In his speech on March 7, Mr. Trump mentioned preparations to expand tariffs on other trading partners if he does not see them adjusting trade policies.

This is very unfair to our country in terms of economy, finance and trade we have been treated completely unfairly by almost every country in the world, he said.

President Donald Trump also stressed the need for many future changes and adjustments in his tariff strategy. "There are always changes and adjustments," he said.
