Trump returns to the White House earlier than planned

US President Donald Trump shortened his weekend trip to Camp David one day earlier, returning to Washington D.C. on the evening of September 19.

According to AFP, the presidential plane landed in the Ellipse area just before 8 pm. The White House's official social media account posted a video recording Mr. Trump leaving the Marine One helicopter.

The President's return to Washington took place after the US State Department issued a new security warning on the same day. The agency advised US citizens in the Middle East to "raise their vigilance" and prepare for the possibility of disruption of travel, amidst Iranian-backed Houthi forces launching new attacks targeting Saudi Arabia.

This military conflict is at risk of escalating rapidly," the US State Department warned. "US citizens outside the Middle East should seriously consider traveling to and transiting through the region. People moving to or from the region need to monitor information about airport and airline operations.

Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said the group used "a large number of ballistic missiles and cruise missiles" along with drones targeting the capital Riyadh and Saudi Arabian oil and gas group Aramco's facilities in Yanbu.

This is the first time Houthi has targeted Riyadh since fighting resumed between Saudi Arabia and this armed group, amid the ongoing war with Iran.
