Trump reveals Iran wants to reach an agreement, war may be about to end

US President Donald Trump said Iran has directly expressed its desire to reach a peace agreement, raising hopes that the conflict is about to end.

On September 16 (Washington time), according to TASS news agency, US President Donald Trump said that Iran had directly expressed its desire to reach a peace agreement, and hoped that the conflict between the two countries is approaching an end.

Speaking to reporters in North Carolina, Mr. Trump said: "Hopefully we are moving towards the end of the conflict. They want to reach an agreement. We will see how things go.

According to the US President, Iran "very wants to reach an agreement".

When asked whether the US received information about Iran's wish through intermediaries or directly from Tehran, Mr. Trump replied that the information was transmitted directly.

The US and Israel began the conflict with Iran on February 28. In June, the US and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding, in which they agreed to immediately end hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.

However, on the night of July 8, the US resumed large-scale attacks on Iran, accusing Tehran of violating agreements related to the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is an important energy transportation route in the world, with about 25% of global oil traded and about 20% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) transported through here.

After that, the US administration basically signaled the end of using large-scale military force against Iran and shifted to exerting economic pressure on Tehran through sanctions.
