Ukrainian security agency SBU announced on June 3 that it had hit the bridge connecting Russia and the Crimean peninsula with explosives placed underwater.
"The Ukrainian security agency has launched a new special operation and hit the Crimea bridge for the third time, this time underwater! The campaign lasted for months," SBU wrote on Telegram.
Ukrainian security officials confirmed that they hit the road and rail bridge connecting Russia and Crimea, with the first explosions at 4:44 a.m. on June 3, local time.
SBU said it used 1,100 kg of explosives detonated early in the morning, damaging underwater bridge piers.
The bridge connecting Russia and the Crimean peninsula has been closed for more than two hours.
Ukraine has attacked the Crimean Bridge twice before in October 2022 and July 2023, causing serious damage to the bridge.
The Crimea attack comes after the SBU launched a daring airstrike on a strategic bomb squad capable of carrying Russian nuclear weapons on June 1.
Ukraine's major drone attack on Russia is called the Spiderweb Campaign, targeting Russian airports and destroying at least 40 Russian bombing aircraft.
Hundreds of drones have been smuggled across the border, disguised as Assembly Houses and loaded onto trucks, piloted near military facilities.
The hood was then opened remotely and the weapon was activated to carry out the attack. This is one of the most daring and impactful attacks on Russia since the conflict broke out in 2022.
