The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has put 20 organizations in Japan, including the National Defense Research Institute, on the export control list to protect national security and interests as well as fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
According to Xinhua News Agency, exporters are prohibited from exporting dual-use goods to these organizations. Foreign organizations and individuals are prohibited from transferring or supplying dual-use goods originating from China to 20 organizations that have just been added to the list. Any related activities currently underway will be immediately suspended, according to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
Also on June 29, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce put 20 Japanese organizations, including Mitsui E&S, on the tracking list because the end users and the final purpose of dual-use goods of these organizations could not be verified.
A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce affirmed that the country's move is in accordance with the law, only targeting a "small number" of Japanese organizations and only targeting dual-use goods.
They will not affect normal economic and trade exchange activities between China and Japan. Honest and law-abiding Japanese organizations have nothing to worry about," the spokesman emphasized.
