Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang answered some questions about citizen protection in Nepal and Qatar.

At the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of September 11, informing about the situation of Vietnamese citizens in Nepal in the context of protests in this country, Ms. Pham Thu Hang said that there are currently about 250 Vietnamese citizens in Nepal.

Ms. Hang informed: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Vietnamese Embassy in India to concurrently monitor the situation closely, urgently work with local authorities to find out information and the possibility of Vietnamese citizens in distress, and at the same time request to ensure security and safety for Vietnamese citizens in Nepal.

"According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in India, which is also in charge of Nepal, up to now, there has been no information recorded that any Vietnamese citizens are affected by the current protests in Nepal" - Ms. Hang said.

The Embassy is continuing to closely coordinate with local authorities, closely monitor the situation, and be ready for necessary protection measures in case Vietnamese citizens encounter difficulties.

Ms. Pham Thu Hang noted that, in the face of current developments in Nepal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Vietnamese citizens in the area are as follows:

First, limit going out of your home, avoid going to areas with protests and riots, especially the capital Kathmandu of Nepal and areas with security and safety risks.

Second, regularly monitor updates on the prestigious mass media of the headquarters and the website of the Vietnamese Embassy in India, which also houses Nepal.

Third, strictly comply with regulations and instructions on security and safety protection measures of local authorities and proactively take necessary measures to ensure security and safety for yourself and your loved ones.

Fourth, regularly maintain close contact with the Vietnamese Embassy in India, which is also in charge of Nepal.

Fifth, Vietnamese citizens who do not have a really necessary job need to consider carefully before making a trip to Nepal.

In case of emergency, needing support and knowing information about citizen protection plans, citizens can contact the citizen protection hotline of the Embassy or through the citizen protection hotline of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Regarding Israel's attack on the Hamas leadership in Doha this week, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized: "Vietnam condemns the use of force, violating international law, the United Nations Charter, violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries.

We call on relevant parties to refrain from escalating tensions, resolving disagreements by peaceful means, strictly complying with international law and the United Nations Charter, creating a favorable environment for negotiating a completely and sustainable short-term agreement for the current Israel-Plestine conflict, security and safety for peace and stability in the region and the world".

Regarding the situation of Vietnamese citizens in Qatar, Ms. Pham Thu Hang said that the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar has urgently contacted Qatari authorities to verify the information and contact the contact point of the Vietnamese community in Qatar to grasp the situation.

"According to the information we have received, no Vietnamese citizen has been affected yet," said Ms. Hang.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar is closely monitoring the situation and preparing necessary citizen protection plans in case Vietnamese citizens encounter difficulties.
