Indian state police in Himachal Pradesh arrested a person in connection with the injury of a pregnant cow due to eating flour mixed with explosives in Bilaspur district late last month.
The incident caused outrage on social media after the owner of the cow posted a video showing the animal being seriously injured.
The Indian Express quoted the police as saying that the incident occurred in Dahad village in Jhandutta Tehsil at around 8pm on May 25 when Gurdial Singh, the owner of the cow, let it graze freely in the fields.
The pregnant cow seems to have lost to the neighbors field, where there are many bushes and there is already flour mixed with explosives. The cow ate the mixture and the explosives, causing serious damage to its jaw and mouth, the police said.
Singh treated the mother cow and reported it to the police, then posted a video online, criticizing the "cruel and cruel act". In the video, Singh accused the neighbor of deliberately feeding the cow with explosives and called for severe punishment. Netizens expressed their anger after seeing blood flowing from the mouth of the injured mother cow. Fortunately, the cow is currently in a stable condition and gave birth to a healthy calf a few days ago.
