Difficulty in clearing the channel to 2 fishing ports that are silted up, boats stranded

Ha Tinh - The channel to Thach Kim Fishing Port and Cua Nhuong Fishing Port is silted up, causing ships and boats to strand when the tide goes down.

On July 9, according to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the Thach Kim Fishing Port Expansion Investment and Construction Project (formerly in Thach Kim Commune, now Loc Ha Commune) has been completed, and a number of ships have come to anchor.

However, some ship owners still complained about the inconvenience, the channel to and from this port was silted up, and when the tide came down, large ships could not enter or exit.

Fisherman Duong Van Sy (born in 1986) owner of a 250CV fishing boat from Thanh Hoa province and some crew members on the fishing boat anchored at Thach Kim fishing port - said that the completion of the Thach Kim Fishing Port expansion project has brought great joy to fishermen when having more anchorage and parking locations.

However, this fisherman also complained that the channel and channel to the port have been silted up for many years and have not been dredged, so the large-capacity boat like his boat when the tide comes down cannot enter the port.

"With the opportunity to catch fish when the tide comes down, we have to stop the boat at the estuary, hire a small local boat to carry seafood to the port for sale. This is very inconvenient, both increasing costs and taking more time while reducing the quality of fresh seafood, said fisherman Duong Van Sy.

Mr. Sy suggested that more canals dredging projects should be carried out to promote the effectiveness of this Thach Kim fishing port expansion project.

A fisherman from Ha Tinh with a 24CV capacity ship anchored at Thach Kim port said that with his small ship, the entry and exit are not affected. However, for large-capacity ships with hundreds of CVs, it is very difficult to get out, when the channel is silted up and encountered when the tide is low.

At Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Project (old Cam Nhuong Commune, now Thien Cam Commune), construction has also been completed. However, the situation of silted water flows more seriously.

Many local fishermen complained that when the tide came down, small boats with only 24CV capacity could not get in or out.

Fishermen all want to soon implement a canal dredging project to promote the effectiveness of this hundreds of billions of VND fishing port project.

Mr. Bui Tuan Son - Director of Ha Tinh Fishing Port - said that up to this point, the investor is completing the procedures to hand over the Cua Nhuong Fishing Port project and the Thach Kim Fishing Port expansion project to the Ha Tinh Fishing Port Management Board for receipt.

Mr. Son also informed that both projects do not have dredging facilities, so currently ships and boats still have difficulty entering the port due to silted canals.

The directors of Ha Tinh fishing ports also said that it is necessary to implement additional projects to dredge canals to promote the effectiveness of the two recently completed Cua Nhuong and Thach Kim fishing port projects with invested funds of hundreds of billions of VND.

Of which, Cua Nhuong Fishing Port is 280 billion VND, Thach Kim Fishing Port is 60 billion VND.
