Date 10.8, a reporter from Lao Động Newspaper was present at the construction site of the Thạch Kim Port Expansion Project (Thạch Kim Commune, Lộc Hà District) to record many officials, workers, and machinery concentrated on the construction site.
Although the weather was extremely hot, workers were still working hard until nearly noon.
“We must focus on working to accelerate the progress as per the instructions because the rainy season will make it very difficult to work”, a worker shared.
The Thạch Kim Port Expansion Project, with an investment of 60 billion VND, was inaugurated on May 15, 2024, and is being implemented by two contractors, Company No. 3 of Hà Tĩnh and Vietnam Construction Corporation - Joint Stock Company.
As Lao Động reported, on May 1, 2019, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 476, assigning the People's Committees of Hà Tĩnh, Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị, and Thừa Thiên Huế to direct the implementation of the investment of the projects "Construction and upgrading of service infrastructure for the fishing industry" and the project "Restoration and regeneration of aquatic ecosystems and aquatic resources", using the compensation money for the environmental pollution of Hà Tĩnh Formosa Steel Corporation.
Implementing the above decision, Hà Tĩnh Province has launched 4 projects, including: The Thạch Kim Port Expansion Project; The project to invest in the construction of service infrastructure for the fishing industry at the Cửa Khẩu Anchorage in Kỳ Hà Commune; The project to dredge and renovate the channel and entrance to the Cửa Hội - Xuân Phổ Anchorage; and The Cửa Nhượng Port Project in Cẩm Nhượng Commune.
However, the above-mentioned projects have been delayed, and the Prime Minister has subsequently extended the deadline.
Up to now, Hà Tĩnh Province has only completed the project to invest in the construction of service infrastructure for the fishing industry at the Cửa Khẩu Anchorage in Kỳ Hà Commune, which was put into operation in June 2023.
The Cửa Nhượng Port Project, with a total investment of 280 billion VND, was inaugurated on January 20, 2024, and has achieved approximately 70% of the construction work.
The Thạch Kim Port Expansion Project, with a total investment of 60 billion VND, is currently focusing on accelerating the progress.
The project to dredge and renovate the channel and entrance to the Cửa Hội - Xuân Phổ Anchorage, with a total investment of 20 billion VND, has not yet been implemented as it is still requesting an increase in the source of funds.
