The Royal Thai Office on June 12 announced information about the memorial service for Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati.
According to the announcement, Thai King Vajiralongkorn has granted grace to the people to participate in the princess's funeral activities.
People are allowed to start participating in rituals in front of the portrait of Princess Bajrakitiyabha placed at the Sahathai Samakhom Exhibition House in the Grand Palace grounds. The ritual will take place on June 13, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
Visiting and signing the mourning book
People can come to pay respects to Princess Bajrakitiyabha's portrait at Sahathai Samakhom Exhibition House in the Grand Palace. The visitation time is daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, starting from June 14th. Here, a royal mourning book will also be placed for people to write their condolences.
Visiting the coffin
After completing the 15-day first phase of the requiem rituals according to royal rites, people will be allowed to visit Princess Bajrakitiyabha's coffin at Phiman Rattaya Palace. This activity takes place daily from 9 am to 9 pm, starting from June 27.
Sponsorship of funeral chanting rituals
Thai King Vajiralongkorn also allowed members of the Royal Family, the Privy Council, the Cabinet, state agencies, state-owned enterprises, private sector organizations and people to participate in sponsoring the funeral chanting rituals after completing the first 100 days of the royal requiem rituals.
Thai people mourn after the Thai Royal Family announced the death of Princess Bajrakitiyabha on June 12.
According to the announcement, Princess Bajrakitiyabha passed away at Chulalongkorn King Memorial Hospital in Bangkok at 7:48 PM on June 11, despite being cared for and treated continuously by a team of doctors.
The princess was hospitalized on December 15, 2022 after fainting due to a cardiovascular disease while training her pet dog in Pak Chong district, Nakhon Ratchasima province the day before.
A statement from the Royal Thai Family said that from May 21, Princess Bajrakitiyabha's health had shown negative developments. Her condition gradually worsened until she passed away on the evening of June 11.
King Vajiralongkorn ordered the organization of a royal funeral with the most solemn traditional ritual for Princess Bajrakitiyabha.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha is the eldest daughter of King Vajiralongkorn and his first wife - Princess Soamsawali.
