The health condition of Princess Bajrakitiyabha of Thailand has deteriorated due to multi-organ infection, doctors could not control her abnormal heartbeat, the Thai Royal Family informed on May 21.
The 47-year-old princess, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, was taken to the hospital in December 2022, after she collapsed due to heart disease and other infections. She has been in a coma since then.
After many years of treatment, doctors discovered a stomach infection leading to enteritis in April, causing her blood pressure to drop and heart rate to become abnormal, according to a statement from the Royal Thai Family.
The Royal Thai Family added that Princess Bajrakitiyabha has been given medication and medical equipment to support her lungs and kidneys, but her health continues to decline. Doctors will continue to closely monitor her health and provide additional treatments.
Last year, Queen Mother Sirikit, who had great influence in the Thai government, passed away at the age of 93.
