The Thai Constitutional Court will rule on Ms. Paetongtarn's lawsuit for violating ethical standards on the afternoon of August 29 after questioning key witnesses, Thai media reported on the afternoon of August 13.
Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra is being suspended from her position as Prime Minister, related to her phone call with President of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen.
In the announcement on August 13, the Thai Constitutional Court said that the two witnesses in the case will be questioned at 10:30 a.m. on August 21.
These two witnesses are Ms. Paetongtarn and the General Secretary of the National Security Council of Thailand.
The plaintiff then sued Ms. Paetongtarn - a group of 36 senators - and Ms. Paetongtarn to submit a written declaration of the end of the trial to the court before August 27.
The nine judges of the Constitutional Court will meet at 9:30 a.m. on August 29 to decide on the case and vote on the verdict.
The verdict on the case involving Ms. Paetongtarn will be read at 3:00 p.m. the same day at the courtroom on the 3rd floor of the Thai Constitutional Court in the Government Complex.
The Thai court suspended Ms. Paetongtarn from her position as Prime Minister after receiving a lawsuit from 36 senators.
Senators accused the phone call of showing Ms. Paetongtarn violating the ethical standards of her position by calling the Commander of Military Region 2 "opponent".
The senators also accused Ms. Paetongtarn of failing to act in response to Cambodia's violation of Thailand's sovereignty due to her personal relationship with Mr. Hun Sen.
Previously, on August 12, the Pheu Thai Party called on the Thai Constitutional Court to postpone the ruling on the fate of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
Pheu Thai lawmaker Cherdchai Tantisirin has given a number of reasons for postponing the court's verdict.
He said Ms. Paetongtarn should remain as Prime Minister because Thailand is facing a border crisis, tariffs and other internal problems such as drugs or land disputes.
He suggested the court suspend the case for 6 months and then schedule a verdict after major issues had been resolved.
The representative of the Pheu Thai Party argued that in times of crisis, having an incumbent Prime Minister would be better than an interim Prime Minister.
On August 12, Ms. Paetongtarn and her husband attended a ceremony in Sanam Luang to celebrate the birthday of Queen Sirikit.
"I miss you so much" - she shared with the press at the event, but did not answer questions related to her ability to resign before the Constitutional Court issued a verdict.
Party Secretary General Pheu Thai Sorawong Thienthong denied the news that Ms. Paetongtarn will resign after the 2026 budget bill is passed.
After the leak of phone calls with Hun Sen in June, Ms. Paetongtarn confirmed the call but emphasized that this was a private and diplomatic exchange to protect peace and sovereignty of Thailand.
