A clip recording the scene of wastewater being discharged directly into Jomtien beach, in Bang Lamung district, Pattaya is spreading strongly on social networks, causing concern as the seawater in this area turns black.
The video widely shared on Facebook shows the dark-colored sewage flowing into the sea along Jomtien beach, causing local people and tourists to worry.
Reporters present at the scene confirmed that the affected area is part of the Jomtien beach landscape improvement project being implemented. The contractor is implementing drainage items, including installing drainage pipes and washing the pipes connected to the rainwater reservoir, to prevent flooding when it rains heavily.

The Pattaya Mayor's Office said it has filed a complaint with the Pattaya City Police regarding the contractor's discharge of wastewater into the sea, and requested immediate remediation.
According to the city government, the incident happened at about 10 am on February 2nd (local time).
The Mayor of Pattaya has directed relevant agencies to prepare an official complaint file and take legal measures without delay. A group of city environmental experts has also taken water samples to check quality, to ensure safety for people and tourists.
Officials said that further measures will be implemented in accordance with legal regulations after the water quality investigation and testing process is completed.
