The latest storm information from the Philippine weather agency PAGASA said that at 4:00 a.m. on November 12, the latest storm Usagi (local name is Ofel) formed, 1,150 km east of Eastern Visayas. Maximum sustained winds in Typhoon Usagi are 75 km/h and gusts of up to 90 km/h. The latest storm to form near the Philippines is moving west-northwest at a speed of 25 km/h.
At the same time, Typhoon Toraji (local name Nika) is 150 km west-northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h and gusts of up to 115 km/h. The storm that made landfall in the Philippines on November 11 is currently in the East Sea and moving west-northwest at a speed of 20 km/h.
In addition to Typhoon Toraji and Typhoon Usagi being inside the Philippine PAR forecast area, Typhoon Man-yi is currently outside the PAR, about 2,930 km east of southeastern Luzon. Typhoon Man-yi has maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center, gusts of 105 km/h, and is moving west at a speed of 10 km/h.
Regarding the forecast track of Typhoon Usagi and Typhoon Toraji, PAGASA forecasters said Typhoon Usagi will move west-northwest until the evening of November 14 before turning northwest then north. Typhoon Usagi is forecast to make landfall in Northern or Central Luzon in the afternoon or evening of November 14.
Typhoon Usagi is forecast to strengthen further over the next 3 days, reaching typhoon level on November 13. Typhoon Usagi is likely to make landfall at or near peak intensity.
Philippine typhoon forecasters are also paying attention to the possibility of Usagi's forecast track shifting, especially on the 4th and 5th days of its forecast track.
It is too early to pinpoint the specific landfall areas for Typhoon Usagi, but Central Luzon is expected to see heavy rain, strong winds and flooding from Typhoon Usagi.
In addition, the eastern part of Central and Southern Luzon could also be affected if the latest storm expands further or has a more southward path.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Toraji - the eighth typhoon in the South China Sea - is currently moving northwest. According to the forecast track, Typhoon Toraji will continue moving in the East Sea, leaving the Philippines' forecast area within the next 12 hours.
Typhoon Toraji is forecast to continue weakening in the coming days and may become a low pressure area over the sea near southern China. However, Toraji will remain a strong storm throughout its movement in the PAR area.
