The latest storm information from the Philippine weather agency PAGASA said that at 4:00 a.m. on November 12, the latest storm Usagi (local name: Ofel) formed, 1,150 km east of Eastern Visayas. The maximum sustained winds of Usagi are 75 km/h and gusts of up to 90 km/h. The latest storm to form near the Philippines is moving west-northwest at 25 km/h.
At the same time, Typhoon Toraji (local name: Nika) is 150 km west-northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h and gusts of up to 115 km/h. The storm, which made landfall in the Philippines on November 11, is currently over the South China Sea and moving west-northwest at 20 km/h.
In addition to Typhoon Toraji and Typhoon Usagi, which are inside the Philippine PAR forecast area, Typhoon Man-yi is currently outside the PAR, about 2,930 km east of southeastern Luzon. Typhoon Man-yi has maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center, gusts of 105 km/h, and is moving west at 10 km/h.
Regarding the forecast path of Typhoon Usagi and Typhoon Toraji, PAGASA forecasters said that Typhoon Usagi will move west-northwest until the evening of November 14 before turning northwest and then north. Typhoon Usagi is forecast to make landfall in Northern or Central Luzon in the afternoon or evening of November 14.
Typhoon Usagi is forecast to further strengthen over the next three days, reaching typhoon status on November 13. It is likely that Typhoon Usagi will make landfall at or near its peak intensity.
Philippine typhoon forecasters also noted the possibility of Usagi's forecast track shifting, especially on days 4 and 5 of its forecast track.
It is too early to determine the exact landfall areas of Typhoon Usagi, but Central Luzon is expected to experience heavy rains, strong winds and flooding due to the impact of Typhoon Usagi.
Additionally, the eastern part of Central and Southern Luzon could also be affected if the latest storm expands further or takes a more southerly track.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Toraji - the eighth typhoon in the East Sea - is currently moving northwest. According to the forecast track, Typhoon Toraji will continue moving in the East Sea, leaving the forecast area of the Philippines within the next 12 hours.
Typhoon Toraji is forecast to continue weakening in the coming days and may become a low pressure area over the waters near southern China. However, Toraji will remain a strong typhoon throughout its movement in the PAR region.
