On September 19 (local time), according to TASS, Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar was splashed with wine in the face by a strange man while attending a grape harvest festival in Szekszárd city, southern Hungary.
The incident happened when Mr. Magyar was on his way back to Budapest after a trip to the city of Pécs, where he met supporters. The Hungarian Prime Minister stopped at Szekszárd and was invited to a restaurant within the framework of the festival.
A video posted by Mr. Magyar shows an elderly man proactively throwing white wine from a glass towards him. Wine shot into the face and shirt of the Hungarian Prime Minister. Security personnel then took this man away from the scene. Hungarian sources also confirmed that the video of the incident was posted by Mr. Magyar on Facebook.
Mr. Magyar said that the man may be uncomfortable to see festival attendees happily chatting and taking pictures with him. The Hungarian Prime Minister called this person the "lost warrior" of former Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and regretted that the delicious Szekszárd wine cup was wasted.
TASS reported that no information has been released about the identity of this man.
This is not the first time Mr. Magyar has encountered a similar incident since taking office. In July, a passerby spit on his back at the Western Railway Station platform in Budapest, where he attended a press conference on railway development.
After taking office as Prime Minister, Mr. Magyar said he did not want to strengthen personal protection measures because this could be inconvenient. He also said that he does not consider Hungary a dangerous place.
