On September 30, a group of Turkish fishermen discovered a small fiberglass boat off the coast of the town of Carsibasi and brought it ashore. Upon inspection, authorities found a bomb inside, causing the port to be immediately blocked off to ensure safety.
According to Turkish authorities, the boat was discovered more than 1,400km from the Ukrainian-controlled area in the Black Sea and about 950km from the Crimean peninsula. This is an area that regularly records attacks by unmanned boats from Ukraine.
IHA and some Russian military sources said the vehicle was the Magura V5 model, an unmanned vehicle (USV) equipped with a cluster of optoelectric sensors and satellite antler tanks, including a sailside mounted at the rear. However, the boat does not have missiles, machine guns or drone equipment as variants that have been developed by Ukraine.
The Magura V5 was initially used by Kiev for suicide missions, and was later converted to launch anti-aircraft missiles, deploy FPV drones or install light weapons. The appearance of this vehicle shows how Ukraine applies USVs to compensate for the Navy that no longer has warships.
