On April 17, in an exchange with TASS news agency, Mr. Ruslan Pukhov, Director of the Russian Center for Strategic and Technological Analysis, said that the Sukhoi Su-35S is currently one of the most experienced real-world fighter models in the world.
According to Mr. Pukhov, the Su-35S is also likely the fighter aircraft with the highest number of enemy targets shot down in the current operating fourth-generation fighter group.
He said that the biggest advantage of the Su-35S lies in its ability to detect and destroy targets from a very long distance. This fighter model is equipped with a wide-range radar and long-range air-to-air missiles, allowing attacks on targets from a distance of hundreds of kilometers.
The ability to "detect first, attack first" is considered an important advantage in modern air combat, as the reaction time is shortening and confrontations often take place outside direct vision.
According to Mr. Pukhov's assessment, in modern air battles, the two most important factors are the target detection distance and missile range. These are also areas where the Su-35S is considered to have an advantage over many fighters in the same segment.
Sukhoi Su-35S is developed with the mission of gaining air superiority, but can also attack ground and sea targets in all weather conditions, both day and night.
This fighter line is capable of operating far from base, helping to protect combat groups and ground infrastructure from air threats.
In recent years, the Su-35S has been continuously deployed in many Russian military operations. The actual combat process helps the Russian Air Force adjust tactics, while providing more data to upgrade electronic systems, radar and weapons for this aircraft line.
Being used regularly in the actual combat environment also makes the Su-35S one of the most noticed Russian fighter models in the international defense market today.
