On November 19, the Su-75 Checkmate fighter jet began ground testing, Rostec State Corporation General Director Sergey Chemezov said on the sidelines of the 2025 Dubai Aviation Exhibition.
Developing a new model takes a lot of time, on average 10 to 15 years. So far, although it has only been a short time, our model is almost in the flight preparation stage, said Mr. Chemezov.
Chemezov added that Rostec is continuing to perfect this model, and believes that The plane will be cheaper because it uses one engine, and I think its weapons system will be enough to meet all requirements - from air target destruction to ground targeting. In terms of efficiency, cost and quality, I think it will be quite good.
The Su-75 model began production in late October at the Yuri Gagarin Aviation Factory in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, according to sources familiar with the Russian defense industry.
According to the plan, the Su-75 will have its first test flight in 2027 and if financial resources are maintained stably, this fighter can be put into service and mass produced from 2035.
Introduced in 2021, although it only has one engine, some designs of the Su-75 are still based on the Su-57 - a new 5th generation fighter jet that Russia has put into service and mass production.
In addition to cost savings, the Su-75 promises outstanding efficiency for the Russian air force because according to initial information from the manufacturer, this fighter model named "Generals" has the ability to flexibly connect with many current aviation electronic systems and is integrated with artificial intelligence (AI).
In terms of performance, the Su-75 can fly at a speed of Mach 1.8 (2,205 km/h) with an operating range of up to 3,000km.
