According to VNA, on the morning of June 16 (local time), Vietnamese Ambassador to Iran Nguyen Luong Ngoc confirmed that the Vietnamese community in Iran is still safe, mentally stable and maintains regular contact with the Embassy, in the context of the continued complicated tensions between Israel and Iran.
According to Ambassador Nguyen Luong Ngoc, there are currently 38 Vietnamese citizens working and living in Iran, including officials and staff of the Embassy, people settling in their hometowns and some cases of short-term residence.
The Embassy regularly recommends that people be vigilant, avoid gathering in crowded places, absolutely comply with regulations and instructions to ensure security and safety of local authorities, as well as maintain close contact with the Embassy.
Ambassador Nguyen Luong Ngoc said that the Embassy is coordinating with Vietnamese authorities, local authorities and related countries to implement citizen protection plans, including evacuation if necessary. The conflict between Iran and Israel is getting complicated. On June 15, Israel launched its deepest airstrike in years into Iranian territory, targeting many of Tehran's key missile facilities.
Since Israel began its campaign against Iran on June 13, at least 224 people have been killed and 1,277 injured, including over 90% of civilians, according to Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour.
