According to AFP, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham will receive Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 27 (local time).
Mr. Zelensky is the first foreign leader Mr. Burnham has welcomed since taking office.
A statement from the British Prime Minister's Office said that Mr. Burnham and Mr. Zelensky will visit a British naval base and meet with about 200 Ukrainian soldiers and sailors participating in maritime security and mine clearance exercises to prepare for future missions in the Black Sea.
The visit takes place in the context of Ukraine continuing to promote efforts to end the conflict with Russia.
Since Russia launched its military campaign in Ukraine in 2022, the total value of British aid to Ukraine has reached 25 billion British pounds (about 33 billion USD), of which 16 billion British pounds (about 21 billion USD) is direct military aid.
Notably, during Mr. Zelensky's visit, the British government will also share with Ukraine the intellectual property rights of the Stone Cloak electronic jamming technology - a device that has been tested on the ground.
The device is the size of a tablet, mounted on a drone and has the ability to hinder Russian air defense systems in tracking, identifying and targeting these devices while flying.
The British government said that thousands of Stone Cloak devices have been transferred to Ukraine. After being deployed and possibly mass-produced in Ukraine, this technology will be integrated into the next generation of British long-range attack weapons.
Stone Cloak is a new generation product developed by the UK that has been tested on the battlefield and will play an important role in protecting the security of both countries," Prime Minister Burnham affirmed.
After the visit to the UK, President Zelensky is scheduled to visit Washington on July 28 to hold talks with US President Donald Trump.
