On the evening of July 26, at the City Martyrs' Cemetery, the Da Nang City Youth Union coordinated to organize a candle lighting ceremony to commemorate heroic martyrs on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026).

At the ceremony, delegates observed a minute of silence, offered incense and flowers to commemorate the great contributions of heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. In a solemn atmosphere, city leaders and delegates and youth union members lit candles of gratitude at each martyr's grave, expressing deep gratitude to previous generations.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee also presented 60 gifts of gratitude to veterans, former youth volunteers and relatives of martyrs. An art program with many elaborately staged revolutionary songs was also organized, contributing to creating a solemn and emotional memorial space.

In addition to the city-level program, the 2026 Gratitude Candle Lighting Ceremony will be held simultaneously at 155 martyrs' cemeteries, low-lying cemeteries and memorial areas in Da Nang city.
The lit candles of gratitude not only express sincerity and deep gratitude for the great sacrifices of the heroic martyrs but also contribute to spreading the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source".

At the same time, arousing national pride and the responsibility of the young generation in preserving and promoting revolutionary traditions, continuing the good values of previous generations.
The candle lighting ceremony is a highlight activity in the series of "Gratitude" programs implemented by the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Youth Union to celebrate the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day.
Previously, Youth Union levels had organized many practical activities such as visiting and giving gifts to policy families and people with meritorious services; medical examinations, health consultations, free medicine distribution; cleaning and renovating martyrs' cemeteries, stele houses and revolutionary historical relics.
