Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to travel to Berlin, Germany on August 14 to attend a series of events, including an online meeting with US President Donald Trump and European leaders. The information was announced by the President's spokesman, Mr. Serhii Nykyforov.
Mr Zelensky is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz before attending a video conference with European leaders, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Mr Trump. This meeting is also part of the activities of the "Alliance for action".
In addition to Mr Zelensky and Mr Trump, the online conference will bring together leaders of Germany, Finland, France, the UK, Italy, Poland, the European Union and the NATO Secretary General. A previous EU joint statement reaffirmed its support for Ukraine and stressed that peace could not be defined without its participation. The only exception is Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who did not support the statement.
Trump is scheduled to hold three online meetings before the summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15. The first meeting will be attended by Mr. Zelensky and European leaders; followed by a meeting between Mr. Trump and European leaders; and finally a working session between the "Ready-to-Act Alliance" and Mr. Zelensky.
