China strengthens relations with the US thanks to giant pandas

After about 11 months of no pandas at the National Zoo in the US, China announced that it will send 2 new individuals in the near future.

According to AP, Bao Li and Qing Bao - 2 3-year-old pandas are strong enough to leave the reserve in Do Giang Yen city in southwestern China and are ready for the trip to Washington D.C (USA).

Many types of food were prepared for the trip to the US of the two pandas, including corn silk, bamboo, carrots, medicines and drinks. Experts believe that this will strengthen the friendship between the people of the two countries and contribute to the protection of the world's biodiversity.

The specific time of arrival of the two pandas in the US is unknown, however, after leaving the flight, they will undergo a period of quarantine and adapt to the climate before being introduced to the public.

According to the National Zoo in the US, Bao Li and Qing Bao will be in the US before the end of 2024. The announcement and many other information about the two bears have been posted prominently on the official website of the National Zoo in the US for many days now.

Bao Li and Qing Bao will be in the US for about the next 10 years, according to China's policy.

China will also send 3 more experienced experts to support the transportation and accompany the pandas.

The agreement between the two sides is still unclear from what happened 10 years ago: The lending cost is 1 million USD for a pandas and any child pandas born during the lending process must return to China before they are 4 years old.

pandas have become a familiar image to people in the capital Washington D.C since the 1972s. The first pair of pandas - Ling Ling and Hsing Hsing - were gifts from Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai after 37th US President Richard Trump made a diplomatic visit. Since then, a series of 10-year pandas exchange agreements have been signed.
