The Ukrainian military admitted that its air defense system failed to intercept Russian missiles and sheltered soldiers who were directly attacked. As a result, there were casualties, but the numbers were not released.
Rescue forces were working at the scene. The injured soldiers have received necessary medical care, the military said in a statement, not disclosing the location of the attack.
The Ukrainian military added that it is working to reinforce training grounds, training grounds and military facilities with more solid mines to minimize damage from continued attacks by Russia.
Ukrainian training grounds have repeatedly become targets, including places far from the front line, raising concerns about the safety of soldiers and the readiness of air defense systems.

The most recent attack on the training area took place on August 12. At the time, the Russian airstrike killed one soldier and injured 11 others.
Notably, in March 2025, former Commander of the Ukrainian Army Mykhailo Drapatyi pledged to raise safety standards at the training ground to preserve the force, which has been degraded after many years of conflict with Russia.
However, just a few months later, he was forced to resign when Russian missiles repeatedly penetrated the front line and attacked training areas, especially in consecutive airstrikes in May and June, killing 12 soldiers and injuring 60 people on June alone.
This reality raises concerns about Ukraine's defense capabilities, as after half a year, promising improvements have not yet come true, putting the rear forces in a serious risk situation.
