Information released by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on May 1. These reforms, expected to begin in June, are aimed at addressing the serious shortage of personnel after more than 4 years of conflict.
In a message on Telegram, Mr. Zelensky said that the first reforms must be implemented from June, starting with increased financial support for soldiers, non-commissioned officers and commanders.
Infantry soldiers will have their monthly salaries increased to 250,000 to 400,000 hryvnia (equivalent to about 5,700-9,000 USD), compared to the current maximum of about 170,000 hryvnia (about 3,800 USD) for those deployed on the front lines or behind the enemy's defenses for 30 days.
Non-combat personnel will be increased in salary from 20,000 (about 450 USD) to 30,000 hryvnia (680 USD) per month.

Mr. Zelensky also announced a "stage demobilization" mechanism for soldiers mobilized from the early stages of the conflict, based on clear criteria according to service time.
This change will essentially end the current indefinite contract system. However, the Ukrainian leader has not given a specific timeline for discharge, saying details are still being finalized.
