Vietnam has become a BRICS partner with the desire to make efforts to contribute, enhance the voice and role of developing countries.

On June 14, 2025, answering a question from Lao Dong reporter about the information that Brazil officially announced Vietnam as a partner country of the BRICS group, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Thu Hang emphasized:

In the spirit of proactiveness, active, extensive and effective international integration, Vietnam has, is and will make practical contributions to multilateral mechanisms, organizations and forums, thereby contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Along with actively participating in multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the Group of developed countries (G7), the Group of large economies (G20)), the Economic Cooperation and Development Organization (OECD) ..., Vietnam has become a partner country of the Group of Emerging Countries ( BRICS) with the desire to strive to contribute, enhance the voice and role of developing countries, promote international solidarity, inclusive multilateralism, and comprehensiveness in the spirit of respect for international law. This also affirms Vietnam's consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification of foreign relations, being a friend, a trusted partner, and an active, responsible member of the international community.

Previously, on June 13, as the rotating BRICS Chair, the Brazilian Government officially announced the admission of Vietnam as a partner country of the BRICS group. The Brazilian Government welcomes this decision of the Vietnamese Government.

Vietnam becomes the 10th BRICS partner country, along with Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda and Uzbekistan. The group of partner countries was established at the 16th BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia in October 2024.

The Brazilian announcement clearly stated that with a population of nearly 100 million people and a dynamic economy, high openness and deep participation in the global value chain, Vietnam is considered an important partner in the Asian region.

Vietnam shares with BRICS members and partners its commitment to promoting a more inclusive and representative international order. Vietnam's efforts to promote South-South cooperation and sustainable development further strengthen similar benefits to BRICS.
