As a key project of the city and under the special supervision of the province, the road to Nam Cat Lake (Bac Kan City) is gradually taking shape, hoping to improve infrastructure and expand urban space.
The project started construction at the end of 2023, with the Bac Kan City Project Management and Investment Board as the investor, with a total capital of about 226 billion VND.

Of which, 90 billion VND is from the central budget, the rest is mobilized from the local budget and other legal capital sources.
The route is about 6km long, passing through about 38 hectares of agricultural, forestry and residential land.
The project is divided into three sections, of which the first section is 1.4km long, built according to urban road standards, with a 10.5m wide road surface and sidewalks on both sides.
The 1.5km section and the remaining 3.1km section both apply the scale of a level IV road, with a road surface width of 7m to 7.5m depending on location.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper in mid-June 2025, after nearly 2 years of implementation, the project has gradually taken shape.
At the first sections of the route and the area around the lake, the construction unit is focusing on leveling the ground, treating weak soil, spreading stones and compacting.
Workers and machinery are mobilized to complete the drainage ditch system, embankments and accompanying auxiliary works.

According to information from the People's Committee of Bac Kan province, as of the second quarter of 2025, construction package No. 15 has completed about 39% of the contract volume.
The Cao Lan Bridge under this package has completed most of the foundation and piers of the bridge. The rest stop has reached about 95% of the volume.
The section from Km3+00 to Km6+520 has been opened, and roadbed items are currently being implemented and cross- drainage is installed.
During the implementation process, there are still some problems, especially in site clearance, in which 4 households have not received support funds and 4 other households have received money but have not yet handed over the site.

In addition, regulating the water level of Nam Cat Lake to ensure construction conditions is also affecting the progress of some sections.
Faced with difficulties arising during the implementation process, the People's Committee of Bac Kan City is coordinating with relevant units to remove obstacles.
At the same time, the contractor is required to mobilize human resources and machinery, speed up the construction progress, ensure the quality and safety of the project.
As a household with a house near the project area, Mr. Nguyen Van Toan (Bac Kan City) said that before the project was implemented, moving to Nam Cat Lake area was difficult, especially during the rainy season.
"We really hope the route will be completed soon, creating more convenience for travel and transportation of agricultural products, while opening up opportunities for tourism and service development in the area," Mr. Toan added.
Previously, Mr. Tran Cong Hoa - Director of the Department of Finance of Bac Kan province informed that the project is expected to be completed in 2025.
When put into operation, the route will contribute to improving the technical infrastructure of Nam Cat Lake area, while creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development in the area.
