On January 28, the X account of the Gaza Peace Council and the Facebook account of the US Embassy in Hanoi posted a message "welcoming Vietnam for becoming a founding member of the Peace Council".
At the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of January 29, answering questions about information related to Vietnam becoming a founding member of the Gaza Peace Council, Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: Vietnam's consistent stance is to support and always be ready to contribute to the common efforts of the international community towards resolving conflicts and disagreements by peaceful means, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter, respecting the basic rights of relevant parties.
As one of the first countries to recognize the State of Palestine, Vietnam welcomes all efforts to bring sustainable peace to the Gaza Strip, for the benefit of the Palestinian people, on the basis of respecting international law and the United Nations Charter.
In that spirit, Vietnam supports the peace plan on ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip that was approved by the United Nations Security Council in Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025 and has accepted the invitation to participate in the Peace Council to implement this peace plan" - Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized.
Also according to Ms. Hang, Vietnam will actively coordinate with members of the Peace Council in implementing the peace plan and thereby ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip, promoting sustainable peace in the Middle East on the basis of a two-state solution in accordance with international law, the United Nations Charter and relevant resolutions of the United Nations.
Also related to the Middle East, when asked about Vietnam's views on the current tensions between the US and Iran, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam is closely monitoring the current developments in the Middle East.
Vietnam calls on relevant parties to exercise restraint from escalating tensions, resolve disagreements by peaceful means, strictly abide by international law, the United Nations Charter and relevant resolutions of the United Nations, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations, not use and threaten to use force in international relations and create favorable conditions for peace negotiations for security, safety, peace and stability in the region and in the world" - Ms. Pham Thu Hang said.
Regarding recommendations for Vietnamese citizens in the Middle East, Ms. Pham Thu Hang noted that on January 15, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued recommendations for Vietnamese citizens. Accordingly, Vietnamese citizens should not go to Iran at the present time if there is no necessary thing. Vietnamese citizens currently in Iran should regularly monitor information, strictly comply with the local government's regulations on travel, as well as warnings from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. To receive support, it is requested that Vietnamese citizens in Iran contact the citizen protection hotline of the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran as well as the citizen protection switchboard of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
