On the afternoon of January 29, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front (MTTQ), central organizations in coordination with the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized a press meeting at the beginning of spring 2026.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Ha Thi Nga - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central mass organizations, Vice Chairman - Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front highly appreciated and respectfully acknowledged the efforts and important contributions of press agencies under the Vietnam Fatherland Front Agency, socio-political organizations and mass associations assigned tasks by the Party and State.
Ms. Ha Thi Nga thanked the important contributions of press agencies, which have created social consensus before major policies and breakthroughs of the country in 2025.
Regarding the project to arrange mass associations assigned by the Party and State, Ms. Ha Thi Nga said that the reason for not implementing the arrangement of legal entities inside mass associations is because it is necessary to wait after the Politburo's conclusion on arranging the organization of mass associations before taking the next steps to arrange the legal entities inside, including newspapers and magazines.
Regarding the viewpoint, Ms. Nga said that right in the project report, the Politburo clearly stated: Review and carefully evaluate the activities of legal entities directly under mass organizations assigned by the Party and State. Legal entities that operate ineffectively, not in accordance with their principles and purposes, and do not implement the principles of autonomy and self-responsibility will have to stop and not continue.
According to Ms. Nga, for newspapers of socio-political organizations, basically they will try to protect so that each socio-political organization will have one newspaper left, with special units that may be two.
In the near future, we will promote to soon have final results on which newspapers and magazines remain and which units must stop," Ms. Ha Thi Nga said.
From the opinions expressed by representatives of press agencies, Ms. Ha Thi Nga agreed, saying that press agencies should not be administrativeized as well as the method of assigning tasks to press agencies must be completely different, not like assigning tasks to socio-political organizations or mass associations.
Ms. Ha Thi Nga emphasized that in the coming time, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, central organizations and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will have a mechanism to provide more effective information to press agencies.
Recalling the request for the spirit of innovation of General Secretary To Lam at the 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and Central Agencies, Ms. Ha Thi Nga suggested that press agencies need to innovate themselves to survive and stand firm, both ensuring the principles and purposes of the newspaper, and ensuring the press economy, ensuring the lives of officials, reporters, and editors.
Ms. Ha Thi Nga also proposed and hoped that in the coming time, press agencies will reflect promptly, objectively and comprehensively on the spirit of innovation in the context of the country entering a new era, an era of national rise.
One of the key tasks in 2026 identified by the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Party Committee and Central mass organizations is: Continue to review, arrange, and streamline the organizational structure of press and magazine agencies in accordance with the Press Development and Management Plan, ensuring streamlining, effectiveness, and efficiency. Persistently implement the policy of reducing focal points, overcoming the situation of spreading and fragmentation; focus resources on key press agencies; gradually improve the organizational model to suit the functions, tasks and development requirements in the new period. Organizational arrangement needs to be closely linked to improving the quality of governance, administration, innovating operating methods and improving substantive efficiency.
