The Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline explosions could lead to the collapse of the European Union and NATO, journalist Tucker Carlson said in an interview with colleague Matt Taibbi.
"The explosion started with the German economy, which will then destroy the EU. In the end, when people wake up from their dream, NATO will be destroyed, because it was an attack by a NATO power on a NATO ally, another NATO member attacked by the US in Germany, and it destroyed the German economy," he said.
Meanwhile, journalist Taibbi called the Nord Stream sabotage one of the most absurd events in recent years. "If you make a list of the 10 strangest things that have happened in the last 8 years, Nord Stream seems to be at the bottom of the list," he commented.
On September 27, 2022, Nord Stream AG announced unprecedented damage to three branches of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. Previously, on September 26, Swedish seismologists recorded two explosions on gas pipelines offshore in the Baltic Sea. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has opened an investigation into international terrorism following the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline.
American journalist Tucker Carlson is the first Western journalist to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin since the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out in February 2022.
Mr Carlson was once one of the most senior, highly regarded hosts on American news channels, according to the BBC. Mr Carlson, 54, has reached the pinnacle of a career that has spanned decades.
A California native and the son of an artist and a journalist, he entered the media world in the 1990s, writing for several prominent publications, including the New York Times, Esquire and The New Republic.

As his influence grew online, Mr. Carlson also branched out into radio, working as a commentator for CNN in the early 2000s before joining MSNBC to host its evening show.
Before leaving the television industry, he worked at Fox from 2009 until April 2023. A few weeks after leaving Fox, Mr. Carlson announced the start of a new show on the social network X, formerly Twitter.
