Shares of Unitree, a Chinese company specializing in human-shaped robots, opened their first trading session in Shanghai on August 19 with an increase of 629%, AFP reported.
Shares opened at 1,100 yuan (163 USD) on STAR Market - a technology-focused exchange - 629% higher than the initial public offering price of 150.8 yuan.
The debut session took place after Unitree's initial public offering of approximately 900 million USD last week, coinciding with the opening of the World Robot Conference in Beijing.
Some opinions see this as a turning point for the Chinese robotics industry - a field that is a key battleground in the technology war between Beijing and Washington.
This event gives mainland investors the opportunity to directly access one of the leading businesses in the industry, and may also impact the valuation of robot IPO deals and private companies in the future," analyst Kangyuxiao Li of Morningstar said in a customer report.
