ABC News reported on August 24 that the T-34 overturned while climbing a trailer during a parade to commemorate one of the largest Soviet battles against the German motherland in Kursk city, about 450km southwest of Moscow. No casualties were reported.
With outstanding features at the time of its launch more than 70 years ago, the legendary T-34 tank was once considered the "backbone" of the Soviet armored vehicles during World War II, and became a symbol of the Soviet victory in this war.
The Kursk Arts Round battle in July and August 43 was one of the largest campaigns on the Soviet-German battlefield during World War II.
The campaign saw the largest tank battle in the history of the wars, starting on July 10 in Pokrovka and culminating on July 12 in the Prokhorovka region.
During the 3 days, the two sides launched the most powerful tank formations into battle with a total of over 1,200 tanks and self-propelled anti-tank guns.
With the victory belonging to the Soviet army, the battle of the Kursk Rainforest became one of the important turning victories of the Soviet Union in this war, marking the defeat of the German army in the Soviet-German battlefield as well as in World War II.
At a parade event in the city of Kursk, Russian President Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the graves of unknown soldiers and chatted with veterans.
