On October 7, in Hanoi, a press conference was held to introduce the Hanoi Open 9-ball Pool Championship - Mansion Sport Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2024.
The tournament continues to become a sporting event that gives Vietnamese athletes the opportunity to compete directly and experience the quality of an international-class tournament right in Vietnam.
Ms. Tran Thuy Chi - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Vietcontent (the tournament organizer) - said: "To create a world champion, training and competition are indispensable. Athletes will practice at sports centers in provinces and cities. As for competition, not only domestic tournaments, athletes also need top-level tournaments.
Therefore, Vietcontent has many investment programs for billiards, coordinating with Matchroom to organize the Hanoi Open Pool Championship at international level. From there, Vietnamese players can compete with many top players in the world, practice their skills and aim for high achievements."
The 2024 Hanoi Open 9-Ball Pool Championship will take place from October 8 to October 13 at the My Dinh Indoor Athletics Stadium. In its second year, the tournament will feature 256 players, including 128 top-ranked players from the World Nineball Tour such as Shane Van Boening, Sanchez Ruiz, Jayson Shaw, Carlo Biado, Duong Quoc Hoang, Do The Kien, Luong Duc Thien, etc.
Of the remaining 128 spots, 64 are for international and Vietnamese players who registered through the organizer's registration portal, and the remaining 64 spots are for players who passed the qualifying round held in Hanoi at the end of September.
Player Duong Quoc Hoang shared: "I made difficult decisions before standing here. The tournament venue really overwhelmed me. At this time, I think my decision was the right one. My goal and desire at this tournament is to keep the cup in Vietnam.
At this year's tournament, a rare female player participating in the competition is Le Tuyet Anh. She is the only Vietnamese female athlete to be given a Wild Card to participate in the tournament.
"Over the past 3 years, I have been practicing hard and actively participating in big and small tournaments. The Hanoi Open 9-ball Pool Championship has gathered many of the top male players in the country as well as internationally. Although I am the rare female player participating in the tournament, I do not feel pressured.
On the contrary, this is an opportunity for me to overcome my own limits and overcome challenges for myself. I hope that I can spread positive energy and inspiration to play billiards to many girls," Tuyet Anh said.
Hanoi Open Pool Championship 2024 will be broadcast live on YouTube channel Webthethao and Vietnam Billiards Promotion so fans can watch the players compete.
In addition, the opening four days of the tournament will be broadcast live globally on the official Matchroom Pool YouTube channel, while the final two days will be broadcast live and covered globally by Sky Sports.
