This tournament is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF) and recognized by two prestigious Billiards organizations: the World Pool Billiards Federation (WPA) and the Asian Billiards Sports Federation (ACBS). Accordingly, all domestic and international players can register to participate and will be scored on the WPA rankings.
Sharing at the press conference announcing the event on the afternoon of September 24, Mr. Melvin Chia - Technical Director of the World Pool Billiards Federation (WPA) - said: "WPA would like to congratulate the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards and Snooker Federation (HBSF) for organizing this wonderful and exciting tournament with about 238 players participating, including 110 players in the qualifying round and an additional 128 players from the Final Round.
We have witnessed the excitement of the qualifying rounds over the past few days and from tomorrow, everyone will witness exciting challenges from the world's top players competing for the first HCM City Open 2024 championship title."
In the final round, the champion will receive an attractive prize of up to 35,000 USD (nearly 900 million VND). The runner-up will receive 13,000 USD (nearly 330 million VND). The two third-place players will receive 5,000 USD each. In addition, the Top 8 players will receive 3,000 USD each, and the Top 16 players will receive 1,600 USD each.
