The final match at Rod Laver Arena was a top-level showdown between two generations, when Djokovic - the most successful player in men's tennis history - faced Alcaraz, a typical face of the next generation. After losing the first set, Alcaraz gradually regained control of the game with persistent play, speed and superior mobility.
The turning point of the match came in set 3 and set 4, when Alcaraz continuously created pressure in the final sets, forcing Djokovic to play more risky and make many unforced errors. In the decisive set, the two players fiercely wrestled until the 12th game. Alcaraz took advantage of the opportunity at the crucial moment to break, closing set four with a score of 7-5.
This victory helps Alcaraz become the youngest player in history to complete all 4 different Grand Slam titles. At the age of 22, the Spanish player continues to affirm his world number one position and bravery in big matches.
On Djokovic's side, this defeat caused him to miss the opportunity to win his 11th Australian Open title as well as set a record of 25 Grand Slams. Although 38 years old, the Serbian player still showed class and persistent fighting spirit, especially in set 4 when he continuously saved break-points and stirred up the audience.
