In the early morning of August 2, Do Thi Anh Nguyet entered the competition in round 1/32 of the women's single string archery event. Her opponent is Mobina Fallah from Iran, who is ranked 1 place higher on the world rankings.
Accordingly, Anh Nguyet and Mobina Fallah both started with 8 points. In set 1, both archers had 25 points with shots 8, 8 and 9. Therefore, each person won 1 point after the first set. .
In the second round, Anh Nguyet made a mistake with a score of 7. She got 10, 7 and 9 points respectively, and Mobina got 10, 8 and 9 points. Iranian athletes won 2 more total points.
In set 3, the Vietnamese archer had 3 9 points, while the opponent from Iran only had a total of 25 points. This result helped Anh Nguyet equalize the score at 3-3 after 3 sets.
In set 4, Anh Nguyet shot quite stably with 10, 9 and 8 points, but Mobina did even better with 10, 9 and 9 points, thereby leading the Vietnamese athlete with a score of 5-3.
In set 5, Anh Nguyet continued to maintain scores of 10, 9, 8, while her opponent only had 26 points. The two athletes tied 5-5 after 5 sets.
According to the rules of archery competition, archers enter a secondary series. In the shoot-out series, Anh Nguyet scored 9* (the arrow's destination was at lines 9 and 10). With this position, the athlete's score of 9 can be considered a score of 10.
In the end, the judges counted it as 10 points with a distance to the bull's eye of 61mm. But then, Mobina Fallah was once again better with a 10 point shot and only 12.1mm away from the bull's eye.
In the end, Anh Nguyet lost to her opponent because the distance was less than 50mm even though she had 10 points.
Previously, another Vietnamese athlete, Le Quoc Phong , also stopped in the 1/32 round when he quickly lost 0-6 to opponent Dan Olaru from Moldova.
The total scores of the archer born in 2000 in 3 sets were 24, 28 and 26 respectively, while Dan Olaru did better with 28, 30 and 27 points.
Thus, Vietnamese archery has not been able to conquer higher rankings at the 2024 Paris Olympics, when athletes Anh Nguyet and Quoc Phong both stopped in round 1/32.
