On the afternoon of September 22, the trio Nguyen Ngoc Tram, Bui Ngoc Nhi and Hoang Thi Thu Uyen defeated the Iranian team with a score of 5-0 in the women's team kata final. The victory helped Vietnamese karate successfully defend the gold medal in this event and bring home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at ASIAD 20.
According to the bonus regime stipulated in Decree 349 of the Government, each athlete who wins a gold medal will receive 280 million VND. For the women's team kata event with 3 athletes, the total bonus from the State budget for the trio is 840 million VND.
This is also the first ASIAD where athletes are applied the bonus regime according to Decree 349, a document effective from the beginning of 2026.
In addition to the bonus according to the State regime, the three female martial artists also received 200 million VND in hot bonuses from sponsorship sources for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation and 50 million VND from the People's Police Sports Association.
Nguyen Ngoc Tram alone was awarded an additional 100 million VND by T&T Group.
Thus, the total bonus amount for Nguyen Ngoc Tram, Bui Ngoc Nhi and Hoang Thi Thu Uyen is 1.19 billion VND.
To successfully defend the gold medal, the Vietnamese karate trio successively overcame Nepal in the quarterfinals, Taiwan (China) in the semi-finals before defeating Iran in the decisive match.
The gold medals of Ngoc Tram, Ngoc Nhi and Thu Uyen also helped the Vietnamese Sports Delegation quench the thirst for gold medals at ASIAD 20, and at the same time continue to maintain the achievements of Vietnamese karate in the women's team kata event.
